Stephan A. Jansen (*12. Juni 1971) ist Professor für Management, Innovation & Finanzen sowie Direktor des »Center for Philanthropy & Civil Society | PhiCS« an der Karlshochschule in Karlsruhe und Stiftungsgastprofessor für Urbane Innovation - Mobilität, Gesundheit, Digitalisierung an der Universität der Künste Berlin sowie assoziierter Forscher am »Alexander von Humboldt-Institut für Internet & Gesellschaft (HIIG)«.

Er ist Gründungskoordinator des »Digital Urban Center for Aging & Health (DUCAH)« der Berliner Universitäten, Digitalforschungsinstitute und der Charité mit über 20 Gründungsförderern. 

 

Stephan ist seit 2007 regelmäßiger Kolumnist in deutschen Zeitschriften, z.B. in »brand eins« & »enorm«.

 

Stephan war und ist Mitglied in zahlreichen Beiräten und arbeitet als wissenschaftlicher Berater für zahlreiche Unternehmen, Stiftungen, Bildungseinrichtungen und mehrere Bundesministerien. So war er beispielsweise eine Legislaturperiode Mitglied des »Innovationsdialoges« der Bundeskanzlerin und des Bundeskanzleramtes, zwei Legislaturperioden Mitglied der »Forschungsunion« des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung und Mitglied in persönlichen Beiräten von Ministern wie Peer Steinbrück, dem ehemaligen Vizekanzler.

 

Er war 2000 bis 2001 Visiting Scholar an der Harvard Business School und arbeitete 1999, 2010 und 2015 regelmäßig als Visiting Researcher an der Stanford University  (u.a. bei Prof. Mark Granovetter PhD und Prof. Dr. Sepp Gumbrecht im Bereich Soziologie, Literatur, Recht).

 

Im Mai 2003 wurde Stephan zum Gründungspräsidenten und Geschäftsführer der Zeppelin University (ZU), einer staatlich anerkannten privaten Stiftungsuniversität in Friedrichshafen am Bodensee, ernannt. Im gleichen Jahr wurde er im Zuge einer Habilitationsadäquanzbegutachtung vom Wissenschaftsminister zum Professor am „Lehrstuhl für Strategische Organisation und Finanzierung | SOFI“ ernannt. Zum Zeitpunkt dieser Berufung war er 31 Jahre alt und damit der jüngste deutsche Universitätspräsident.

 

Stephan schloss sein Studium an der Universität Witten/Herdecke 1997 ab und promovierte 2003 bei Prof. Dr. Dirk Baecker, Prof. Dr. Birger Priddat und Prof. Dr. Rudolf Wimmer. Dort gründete er 1998 das »Institute for Mergers & Acquisitions (IMA)«, für das er von der Bundesministerin Edelgard Buhlmann als Hochschulinnovation des Jahres ausgezeichnet wurde. Seit zwei Jahrzehnten ist er Stipendiat u.a. der Herbert Quandt-Foundation, Fullbright, der Deutschen Studienstiftung, der Eberle-Butschkau-Stiftung und des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes.

 

Neben seiner akademischen Karriere ist er Geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der »Gesellschaft für urbane Mobilität« BICICLI  Holding GmbH, mit Ihrer Mobilitätsberatung MOND datenbasierte integrierte Mobility Hubs entwickelt und umsetzt sowie mit dem Geschäftsbereich BICICLI Cycling Solutions »Bike Mobility as a Service« mit Infrastruktur anbietet. Preisträger des Deutschen Fahrradpreises 2020, des Innovationspreises des Deutschen Handels 2020.

 

Außerdem ist er Mitbegründer der Sozietät für Digitale & Soziale Transformation »Das 18te Kamel & Komplizen GmbH«   in Berlin, Hamburg und Wien mit Kunden wie AUDI, BASF, Bayer, Caritas, GIZ, Lufthansa, Otto.

 

Aus der Perspektive der Soziologischen Systemtheorie und der verhaltenswissenschaftlichen Organisationstheorie ist er Autor von mehr als 200 Publikationen (darunter 25 Bücher und Anthologien), insbesondere in den Bereichen Organisation und Netzwerke, Digitalisierung, Innovation, Führungs- und Managementtheorien, Mergers & Acquisitions, soziale Unternehmen, Philanthropie, neue urbane Mobilität & Smart Cities sowie Analysen von Bildungssystemen.

 

Er ist seit 2016 im weltweiten Ranking»Thinkers 50« aufgeführt.

Stephan was and is a member of numerous advisory boards and works as a scientific consultant for numerous companies, foundations, educational institutions and several federal ministries. For example, he was a member of the »Innovationsdialog« of the Federal Chancellor and the Federal Chancellery for one legislative period, a member of the »Forschungsunion« of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for two legislative periods and a member of personal advisory boards of ministers such as Peer Steinbrück, the former Vice Chancellor.

 

He was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Business School from 2000 to 2001 and worked regularly as a Visiting Researcher at Stanford University in 1999, 2010 and 2015 (among others with Prof. Mark Granovetter PhD and Prof. Sepp Gumbrecht in the field of sociology, literature and law).

 

In May 2003, Stephan was appointed founding president and managing director of Zeppelin University (ZU), a state-recognized private foundation university in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. In the same year he was appointed professor at the »Chair for Strategic Organization and Financing | SOFI« by the Minister of Science in the course of a habilitation adequacy assessment. At the time of this appointment he was 31 years old and thus the youngest German university president.

 

Stephan completed his studies at the University of Witten/Herdecke in 1997 and received his doctorate in 2003 under Prof. Dr. Dirk Baecker, Prof. Dr. Birger Priddat and Prof. Dr. Rudolf Wimmer.
